Look before leaping

A relationship with a member of the opposite sex is an important part of your life and should not be taken for granted. Before you commit yourself into having a serious relationship with a man or woman you are interested in, I will advice that you look carefully before you leap. Many people have gone through unnecessary pain because they failed to do this. They allowed their emotions to run riot and determine the course of their lives.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with using our emotions as long as we are well grounded and understand the principles and values that govern and determine a great life. We cannot make a relationship decision in isolation of other areas of our lives. A relationship affects everything about us. The moment you grant access to someone to enter your life, that person comes in with everything they have. He/she will influence you in ways you never imagined. They will enter with both positive and negative aspects of their lives. For your own good, it is best that the person you grant access to, brings more value into your life instead of causing you problems. Some people enter your life and you begin to experience such problems that you never imagined possible. They bring their confusion, fears, limiting beliefs and pain into your life. They enter your life with a catalog of problems which you may find quite overwhelming. Some people are not aware that their life is a breeding ground for problems. They are deluded by their physical beauty and financial status to think that they are just too much for you. But the truth is that when you take a critical look at their lives, you see nothing but problems.

There are people who come into your life with value. As soon as they enter your life, you begin to experience new heights of thinking and emotional experience. They challenge and encourage you to be the best that you can be. Such people work on themselves daily and have taken the time to develop their character.

A relationship is not about hanging out with a good looking person. It is about how that person makes you feel when you are with him/her. A relationship is about the quality of life you enjoy because of your connection with this person. If you are not getting value from your relationship, you are better off without it.

People camouflage themselves with beauty, success, money, good skills and a variety of other good things which could deceive you into believing that they are who they are not. They put their very best foot forward and hide behind their charisma, making you think that it’s who they really are. Truthfully, your partner’s character is what you will live with. If their character is developed, you will have fun with them and your relationship will be a happy one. If on the other hand, their character is not developed, you will live a very miserable life.

You should therefore take a very good look at this person you want to commit your life to and make sure that they are really the kind of person that you want in your life. Good luck.
